Lexus IS revealed Sriracha Edition
#61
Nobody. It's just a show car and not something Lexus is offering.

No but the key fob can dispense Sriracha with the push of a button apparently... I'm not even kidding lol.
I don't get why Lexus would spend so much time doing this instead of focusing on performance vehicles and the like. That's what they need right now, and an ISF or some new true performance engine option (not like the tiny 200t engine) would have been much more interesting. This is just a waste of time and money and I can't seem to quite figure out why they would bother with this?
I mean who in their right mind would even bother paying extra to have their Lexus labeled as a bottle of Sriracha?? You'll basically look an idiot and a walking advertisement. But hey, at least you get like 47 bottles of Sriracha in the trunk right?? XD

I could envision this as a special edition Corolla, but a Lexus... hmmmm, has me scratching my head.
IMO the brands are more inline with this equation: Corolla = hot sauce < Lexus = Tumi.

wow, i've seen some dumb marketing but this is up there...
of course the car isn't for sale, it's just a marketing promo for the 17 IS at the LA auto show.

For 2017, the IS gets some styling updates, a 10.3-inch central display screen, and the Lexus Safety System+ bundle of safety features. It is a recipe that makes for a decently satisfying meal, but even covering it with hot sauce probably won’t pull most buyers away from their BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans.

They've done special cars like this before. They did an LA Clippers RC F a while back.

This isn't some food tasting event trying to market to young hungry kids...Lexus is at an auto show, a major one, and an introduction like this is quite disappointing.

This is what a company does when they don't have product
Infiniti gave us a twin turbo V6 with 400 hp and a nice Q60 coupe and an ok QX30 CUV this year
Lexus will have the LC and revised LS next year, but they need to get some fire in their development team, so they don't have to tread water like they did here

Put me down for one who thinks this is a big waste of resources. Here we and others have been starving for certain mandatory models that should have already been here years ago, like some sort of hybrid for the U.S. or and IS-F. Disappointing in my opinion.
