Are we sure this isn't a pic of the 2016 Kia Optima?

I am glad that Camry will continue to offer a V6 option with even more power. This all new car looks very promising inside & out !

Very nice first prototype drive review on MT:

That two toned white model looks pretty damn good. Slightly overdone grill for my taste but overall, I think they knocked this one out the park.

WOW!!!! Toyota can design an interesting looking and NOT UGLY car. After the new Prius, Corolla and Rav4 refresh, I was beginning to wonder about that.

So glad Toyota kept the V6 under hood, that was probably one of the best things about the current Camry. The current engine is very refined, great linear powerband with good torque and straight up hauls the mail when you step on it. I'd imagine the new engine will probably have about the same feel, hopefully it will sound better than the current version, which is about my only gripe with it. I also have to think that long term reliability/durability will be way better than these newer crop of turbo 4 cylinders, there's a lot fewer things to break on a naturally aspirated V6 as time/miles pile up.

Also interested in their MPG claim for the hybrid. If it gets near the same mileage as the Prius, I can't imagine why anybody would buy the current ugly duckling Prius. I've actually talked to a couple of current Prius owners who said they won't buy the new model because its so ugly.

Agree. Impressed with the white/two-tone Camry!

Also, glad they kept the V6 as a market differentiator though I would expect its fuel economy to be at the bottom compared to the turbo four offerings from the competition.

Finally, did anyone notice how much of Akio's presentation was focused on US jobs, US production, and US investment? Hmmm....

Yes i did notice much greater emphasis on US investments. It was quite evident in Akio's presentation :-)

The current Camry V6 does quite well in real world fuel economy. With the updated engine & 8 AT i expect real world fuel economy to match or be better than turbo 4 offerings from the competition and provide better performance.

Toyota seems to have gone all out with the 8 gen Camry. I am intrigued to see the specifications of the new base and hybrid engines. Thanks to very high thermal efficiency the base 2.5 L 4 cyl engine could see a vast improvement in performance without using turbocharging.
