Lexus is moving away from sedans and toward SUVs

It's an example of the hypocrisy about their new "premium drive, cars you love blah blah" mantra that they have all these downmarket transverse vehicles. Dynamic SUVs are in and doing great, you would think the new dynamic Lexus would get on board with that a build a proper sport luxury utility.

And the sad thing is...they have great platforms. The GS/IS platform is a great platform and would make a great SUV, and the new LS/LC platform would make a great 3 row SUV Or large personal luxury utility LX replacement like a Range Rover.
IMHO if Lexus ever wants to truly have parity they need to commit to premium platforms.

It seems Lexus is always late to the game or slow to adapt to market changes. Watch the sedan market come roaring back and they are caught flat footed again with SUVs flooding the dealer lots.

I am not so sure Lexus is late to the game. Lexus sold 12000 SUVS last month for North America. Lexus was down for sedan sales but they line up of cars is pretty old with some models dating back to 2007. Lexus is a good position for sedan sales if the market changes.

If you were to argue that they could possible have a separate model with a RWD design I would acknowledge that, but they already have two RWD based SUVs in the GX and LX.

You actually don't understand. Lexus sold almost 7000 RX units in January why would they want to change the formula that has worked? Explain the rationale behind changing the best selling luxury cross over SUV?

Thats an example of the hypocrisy. They're trying to tell us that they don't care about sales figures or being #1, that what they dare about is making wonderful to drive emotional cars...yet they still churn out transverse engine Toyota derived CUVs to hit sales volume numbers.
They're talking the talk but not walking the walk.
Again, the shocker is Hyundai, no FWD based Genesis crossovers or vehicles planned.

You still did not answer my question. Why would Lexus want to change something for their best selling SUV?

A mid sized SUV based on the IS/GS platform could be pretty awesome and I'd most likely sign up. Until then I'll just enjoy driving my Toyota "downmarket junkers" LOL...

Why not get a BMW or MB if you want a real premium SUV? That's the issue isn't it? Those are real premium carmakers, you could argue Lexus really isn't because they don't offer exclusively premium platform vehicles.
