No love for Infiniti Q60?

Actually, you're right. Infiniti has not exactly been the subject of many dinner-table conversations lately, and seems to carry a stigma to it.....especially in some of the Lexus forums, including this one. While their general reliability, lately, has not been in the same league as Lexus, as early models from the 1990s were, I agree that the brand, when people do talk about it, has taken more than its share of unfair dissings lately.

Not sure if I understand. What metric are you using? And I actually don't think Ghosn is Infiniti's worst enemy at all- everyone I know who has contact with Infiniti has said he's quite angry at their current management. They've got some great products in the pipeline (the QX50 is the most bland though) but they're all running so horribly late due to mismanagement.

It sounds like the difference between the 300hp and 400hp version comes mostly down to tuning of the turbo's. If it is just that I would get the 300hp version and then have it tuned to 400hp or more which probably would cost much less then the big premium you pay for the 400hp version.

I rarely hear this car mentioned in the forum... I'm sure because coupes are so rare these days. I've seen two on the road (a white one today) and have been really impressed. The rear looked almost like an exotic car. I know the interior is its weak point, since it is very similar to the Q50, but the exterior IMO looks really sharp. Anyone else seen one? Were you impressed?
I have to say, seeing one is almost the same feeling I had when I saw the first Audi A5/S5 on the road, which is still a great-looking car.
If you disagree you won't hurt my feelings.

Like some others have pointed out, its funny to me that Infinity is kind of the forgotten brand in some conversations, when some of their newer products, at least visually, rival almost anything out there.
Its small, but I really like the idea of the LED-lit emblem on the grille...
They sound great too when accelerating from a stop light!

The name change happened before this car even launched. Also you're right, major publications haven't done a full review because Infiniti strangely hasn't released any press cars. I'm assuming they're waiting for warmer weather. There seems to be a major delay in the marketing for their new models...they just recently started advertising the QX30 in earnest.

Back in 2008-10 or so the M35 platform got a good run and was a coveted used car value. When my son was looking for a vehicle in late 2010 I suggested a used M35 to be considered. When he went to the dealership to look at lease returns he also considered a G37 coupe but it was a bit small for him (he is 6'2") and he decided on the then brand new M37 with the 330hp plant.
The car (M37) inside and out is stunning but he has had a few warranty repairs dealt with by Infiniti swiftly. When Infiniti went down the rename and the confusing Qnn approach it really hurt any following of the models. Was not a fan of that move.....
I agree the current Q60 is looking good but the 300hp plant when a G37 is at 330 is puzzling. The 400hp plant sounds like a step up but with the turbo adds to reliability concerns (yet to be trended). If the leases are as attractive as indicated, it will "sell" nicely and there will be many on the roads. Whether it becomes a "mod target" for the street crowd is hard to tell.
I have been surprised by the loyal following of the BRZ/FRS owners (even if the Scion owners are swapping out the badges for Toyota).

While the 300 horsepower version is fitted with a single water pump, the 400 horsepower engine uses two water pumps for more effective management of heat when under operating at higher loads. In addition, for the 400 horsepower variant an optical turbo speed sensor gives a 30 percent power boost to the turbo system by allowing the blades to spin faster.

I wonder if the lack of the sedan's draw is also bringing down the coupe. Often, one has intentions going into a dealership to buy a sedan. But low and behold, a slick, low, sporty coupe is sitting in the showroom. Potential customer asks the salesman, "what is this?" The rest is pure emotions, and the dotted line is signed. But with Infiniti, I don't even think many are going in for the sedan. I rarely see any new ones on the road. Without that showroom traffic, the Coupe isn't being seen by those people who buy on emotion.
