I have mixed feeling about the new M5. Yes it's better in numbers, but to me it's basically a X5M and X6M in a sedan body now, just with a updated engine and same transmission, even the front and back looks like the X cars. I don't want to get it if it's just it, to me it's like getting a similar car with litttle different physics.

I agree. I was hoping a return to form for the next gen M5. Honestly, the E39 M5 was my dream car when I was a teen. It was the perfect blend of sport and sedan. When I was finally able to get one, I found that the M5 had grown too big and lost the charm the E39 had. The F80 M3 was now nearly as big as the E39 M5. Spiritually, I got my dream car, but it was now called an M3.

The E30 M3 is spiritually succeed by today's M2.

Ohh my, don't bring back the memory for E39 M5s. I still remember my extensive drive back then, just lovely. Hell even my 2002 530i without Sport package drives so well, I just wanna keep driving, can't say that to any of the later BMW's I have :/

The E39 was magical. My buddy's old 540i felt better than the F10 550i I test drove.
