He did the pull up about to half a nose back in the next lane thing and stared for a while, I slowed a bit and we exchanged waves.
Good to hear. Not surprising. I don't really buy the sweeping generalizations of the drivers of certain brands.

Sure enough, the guy checks out my friend's car and see it's a lowly boxster, and gave a snob look and just drove off. He says all the 911 that he encounters are the same.

It could be the superiority complex of a 911 over a boxster, but there's no comradery at all.
I'm new to the Porsche scene, but so far... all the 911 owners I have encountered wave at me in my lowly Macan S. I do live in a state that has signs saying "Welcome to Texas, Drive Friendly-The Texas Way". But with more and more people moving here...not as friendly as it use to be. By the way, LOVE the 1 millionth 911!

haha I remember a story (90's?) about how HP located in Boise, ID, and it changed the city forever. Now, you had 30 somethings driving flashy German cars, flipping the bird to tractors (who have been there likely over 100 years) who are moving to slowly down the roads....often newcomers act as if they "own" the place.

I've owned one Porsche, but as of late, was lucky enough to attend the launches of the 991, the prior Boxster (wtf was my invite on the new 4 cyl one?), and did the driving event in 2015. IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN BMW OR MB. Not to knock BMW, their events are a cut above many, I attended the launches of the E90 and the F01/02. But Porsche is so relaxed, got a tour of the repair facility, with turbos having their motors out (ruh roh these were 997's), the finest hors d'oeuvres and alcohol, and a level of enthusiasm bar none. One of the guys I met, again, said if you have the money, by all means, buy a new 911, he's had two, but he found the sweet spot is 5-6 y.o.....

I actually think the green was to make the car easy to point to in the museum, look that green one is the millionth car. If they did it in silver, it would be like, which silver car are you pointing to?
The Boxster did save the company from going bankrupt in 1997. It was their 1st mass production vehicle.
