Viper ACR Headed Back to the Ring
#16
^ Another thing that kind of drives me nuts about posting Nürburgring times is there are so many damn variables for a race track that long. Weather conditions can vary significantly, it can be a hot day when the Viper team is out, a cooler day when Porsche tests, part of the track can be fogged in when Ferrari tests, it can be raining on part of the track and sunny on the other part the day Mr Koeinssegg is out testing. Then you have things like there might be some gravel, dirt, dust, etc in a couple of corners that wasn't there a couple days ago.
Mainly though the weather is such a huge variable, if cars are close in lap time, you really need to look at the weather. And for us mere mortals, driver is the biggest factor of all in racing at the Nurburgring, but all the factory race teams can afford drivers who know the track. But due to its length, its a very difficult track to even be considered competent driving around, you need to run it hundreds of times to become proficient.
