I think Toyota did say they will bring improvements every model year? I could be wrong though and 47hp improvements will **** off quite a bit of people but only .2s faster 0-60

Until we know if it's Toyota correctly advertising the power it makes or not, then I don't think current owners have anything to worry about.

From what I understand it’s a different motor, B58D vs the current B58C motor.

Correct, the B58D actually has conventional 6 port exhaust manifold vs the 6 into 2 integrated one of the B58C. The Supra is lighter than the Z4 so with the same power plant and the bump it should be slightly faster than a stock 2020.

Great update- now they need to put the 6mt in there!

It will be cool to see a 1/4 mile race between 2020 and 2021 version.
The 335 hp rating was a joke, even the 382 figure is underrated

Are you saying they really make more?

Yeah if you look at dyno reports they make more. BMW engines are typically underrated.

Thankfully the b58 is easily tuneable with aftermarket chips so a 47 hp gain is easily available.

Yes usually with BMW the stated HP # is what the car actually makes at the wheels.
At the crank, Supra is probably around 425-450hp.

With tunes and downpipes these are making over 500hp at the wheels with the old motor.

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere, a lot, but is there an expectation that there is enough differentiating the Supra from the BMWs that it will be "more reliable" in the long run?

Not really much out there besides interviews with Toyota engineers who mentioned that they reviewed and made changes to the unnecessary complexities of german engineering. Part numbers and parts are still stamped by BMW soooo...maybe if someone reviews the parts catalog, but other then that good luck.

I finally saw one of these on the road. It was red and it looked pretty good from the side. It’s just really small.

Saw one last week in my neighborhood for the first time. The B58 is awesome in my M340i, this is one quick car, so Supra will be even quicker now considering the weight difference between my car and the Supra.
