I wouldn't say there is a huge difference in these two designs. I wouldn't even say minimal difference. There is a very very slight difference at best - IE: The gauge clusters and other slight small details.
If you look at the general aspect of things, the interior is still at least 95%+ the same. Even the door handles are the same...

On a serious note to those worried about BMW reliability. BMW and Toyota won't be building the Z4 or Supra. That honor goes to Magna Steyr AG & Co KG. This is a subsidiary of Canadian-based Magna-International. The main manufacturing plant is located in Graz, Austria. Magna Steyr is credited for developing Mercedes-Benz "4Matic" 4WD, and assembles all E-Class 4Matic models. They did development on the BMW X3 (and manufactured all original X3's (E83)). They also built the Aston Martin Rapide. Magna Steyr developed several other cars on behalf of manufacturers such as the Audi TT, Fiat Bravo, and Peugeot RCZ.

Majority of the parts are shared with BMW.
They have the money and tech to make a sports car themselves. But, if anything, this proves Toyota is being lazy and given up on the sports car market. They rather do "team-ups" and borrow tech than create something on their own.
How are they going to sell these Supras anyways?
Toyota purist wouldn't buy it.
BMW purist wouldn't buy it.
Supra enthusiasts that are purist are staying away.
This Supra cost as much as a BMW M2 CS without the 6MT and the fun.
