You heard it from me first: its going to be a flop.
Hard to say at this point. I expect to see a few RC-F owners here jump ship once the Supra is released and the modding starts. The only perceived issue would be reliability but you wouldn't know until the issues start.
I have no idea what Toyota's sales projections are for this car, but it would be interesting to see. I'm sure they understand it's a bit of a niche model in that it will never have large sales numbers, but I think it ought to do well, at least initially as there is probably some pent up sales demand.
The fact that development costs were shared with BMW ought to mean the Supra can survive even if sales are quite low.
i wish it weren't even something that needed to be considered, but there's no good spot for a front license plate to go lol, so all seriously style-conscious owners will have to register them in like pennsylvania or florider
Not liking what I am seeing, the styling and stance are just off, makes it look dowdy, you can tell even from the blurry video it does not look good and has the wrong stance. I have read the Japanese auto press don't like it and are criticizing it. Should never have been based on a BMW roadster.

I'm more optimistic about the car, I don't like some things about it but at same time don't want it to fail. I'm somewhat curious on what the target audience for Toyota is for it. I'm hoping they add a 6MT option the second year or maybe they even have it as an option and will reveal it next month who knows. I did see a photo of one of the test cars lowered with 305's out back which I found interesting. If 6MT becomes an option I would consider looking at getting one.
wow they're (understandably) really going for the whole nostalgia look it's another supra!! move with this
the problem is that anyone familiar with "its legendary 3 liter inline six cylinder engine" knows that this engine has absolutely nothing to do with "it" and literally isn't even made by toyota, so idk who that video is supposed to excite
notice how "it" doesn't say BMW anywhere
even 25 years later a stock 1993 supra turbo still feels properly fast... like after i got to ride in (and then drive) that one pictured above i was like WOW that 2nd turbo seriously punches you down the road, i can't imagine when one is heavily modded
a picture doesn't really convey the emotions that well, but just standing in the presence of that engine bay you just get this like mystique, whoa there's something special about this thing...
^^^ I remember riding in a stock twin BPU Supra and blown away. Mine is close to mid 8's at wheels and the mid to top end is insane lol...............nice Avatar I'm a big fan of the SR-71 I have an autographed poster from Buck Adams that did London to LA in 3 hours and change oh and my Supra's nickname is Blackbird lol.

well then that makes you the 2nd person i know of on this site that has nicknamed their car blackbird haha
and ughhh i'm so jealous that you have the supra, don't get me wrong i'm loving the E55 but it doesn't have the paul walkerness of a big turbo supra lol... i bet i can smoke you from a dig though at least for the first few seconds
my life won't be complete unless i can at least once get out on the highway with a 6-800 hp supra, grab 3rd at about 2500 rpm, put my foot down, wait for it... wait for it... waaaaaiiiiit foooorrrr ittttt..... HOLY CRAP THE BOOST... stututu AND INTO 4TH!!!!... then let off at 140ish, such as can be seen below at about 1:20 lol

Not to sidetrack it too much from the A90 Supra I would say my car isn't laggy like the typical big turbo setup. I have vvti with BW S369 and rolling anti lag 2nd gear 40 rolls are fun plus I have fully integrated traction control the ecu turns down boost when wheels slip which isn't always a bad thing. I have launch control and R888's but just stick to rolls parts too rare these days to risk breaking stuff.

oooo damn rolling anti lag... yea that's a pretty thorough set up you got there
are the R888s the ones that are very good but make that high pitched whine at high speeds?
