That was 30 years ago, and Toyota is not the same company that it's used to be.

Whenever I see cars with matte paint jobs, I have a sudden urge to eat Popeyes fried chicken then wipe my greasy hands on those cars.

The only matte paint acceptable to me is matte black, and you need PPF for sure ........

That is complete and utter nonsense. See Lexus LF-A. My guess is they know it won't sell well so why waste their R&D money on it. Still a terrible idea to integrate BMW garbage with a Toyota.

LFA was released in 2009, after 10 years in development. Incredible car, but ever since Toyota hasn't failed to disappoint.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but you truly don't think ToMoCo is capable of engineering a proper Supra? Really? The new Camry is bad-a$$, too early to say if it's quite the car the '92 one was but I've never, ever thought a Camry was so nice.

They're capable alright. But they also understand a new Supra won't save the brand. They followed the bean counters route and sneakily made BMW do ALL the work. Toyota didn't have to invest much in this. So if it flops, we'll no skin off their nose. Sports cars aren't big sellers anyway. Why invest heavily in R&D when their bread and butter is Camry's, Highlanders, ES's and RX's?

Do I agree with it? Not really. Do I understand why they went that route, absolutely. It was a business decision.

Well, right. That's what I was saying. I don't blame them for not wasting their R&D money on a Supra. But I don't think Toyota needs "saving" and I absolutely think they are as capable as ever. The LC500 is stunning, I don't care that it's not as fast as turbod competition. I'll take a NA slower V8 over a TT all day long.

Doesn't need saving, that was a poor word. But they don't need a money pit either. They need money makers. They don't want to lose money like they did on the LFA no matter how incredible it was and earned it's place in automotive history. Deals on future 5.0L LC500's might be had if and when the LS500 3.5L TT powertrain becomes the new base engine in the LC500.

Downsized turbocharged motors suck, IMO and experience. A V8 is way better than a V6.

No replacement for displacement, I'll say that until death.

Dropping the V8 and putting this V6 in the LS is unforgivable, I've said that from the start.

It's not like they went from NA V8 to NA V6. While I would have preferred they kept the LS with V8, a TT V6 is no slouch either. Depending on the application I would take a TTV6 over a NA V8.
