I won't deny based on what I've seen it looks to to be a sweet driving car, but no way over a Vette for me.

Very cool watch. You can see the amount of personal effort went into the project by the way the engineer is describing the supra. Its interesting to mention how he mentions the first thing "3rd party" will do is install the same reinforcements that you can find standard in the Bmw Z4 lol

Didnt know 2019 was the last year you could pass with a louder exhaust in passerby noise regulation

I'm with you. C7 will already smoke this thing straight line or on the track. C8 will just widen that gap. Most of my buds are car guys, and none of them are interested in this car. 3 of them already have deposits for the C8. Unless they step it up, this car will be gone in 3 years.

Chevy rates the C6 Z06 as 11.7 in the quarter

to get a cayman with similar engine power you have to go to the Cayman S, which is 20k more than the supra. Have the feeling the C8 vette is going to be a dramatic price jump over current vettes, leaving the realm of affordability which the vette was known for.

I have the feeling this car will be more successful than people think, and its going to respond extremely well to aftermarket mods.

Have to say Doug did a great job with that review.

couple of questions...

does the supra offer HUD? (Corvette’s had it for years)
Doug alludes to Toyota likely offering a more beefed up version (or versions) in the future... what do you guys think?
why on earth does this make less power than the new Z4?

Rumor is Toyota detuned it for reliability, which makes me believe they aren't going to offer a more powerful version unless it's a completely different engine option.

What makes you think it is going to respond so well to aftermarket mods? This isn't an overbuilt Toyota engine like the old Supra.

Here is the same basic engine with a piggyback tune, intake, and water/meth injection:

HUD is in the Premium Package/Trim I believe.

I've never had any interest in a Vette.

Beefed up version my guess would be using the S58 BMW motor if they allow it with an actual manual.

It weighs 700lbs less then Z4 that's significant imo and I personally think it makes more power than they are claiming.

The BMW engines are very mod friendly with tunes and remaps. I read that some have pushed B58's to 7XX hp mark. That's still a lot of power many say it will be failure if it doesn't make 1K on stock block but those saying that have never driven a powerful car on street. I'm close to 850 on my Supra at wheels and it's way more than enough. Power is addictive you always want more and some are obsessed with making the most on a dyno just because.

In over 20 years, the new Supra has gained a whopping 15hp. It took over 20 years to go from 320hp to 335hp?

They definitely need a more powerful more desirable version, in this day in age a 335hp Supra is kind of like the 220hp Supra was back in 1993, the base version, not very desirable or potent.

Other sports cars from mid 90's to now.
R34 Skyline around 330hp R35 now 480hp to 544hp with some versions at over 600hp. That is over a 150hp gain.
NSX 290hp to 573hp. 283hp gain.
300ZX 222hp-300hp to 332hp-350hp. 110hp-50hp gain
SC430 300hp to 471hp 171hp gain
BMW M3 E36 240hp US spec/286hp Euro spc to 425hp. 185hp and 139hp gain.
Corvette C4 300-330hp to 460hp for base and other versions pushing out over 700hp. 160+ hp gain.
Porsche 911 993 268hp-281hp/402hp for 911 turbo to 350hp to 400hp/turbo 513hp-552hp. 82hp-119hp/111hp-150 gains.

Miata 133hp to 181hp. 48hp gain even for a miata.

Most family sedans and econo cars have had at least 50 to 100hp gains from the mid 90's to today yet the Supra gets just 15hp more, that is likely one of the weakest power gains of any new generation car spanning 20 years even if the power is under rated.

thanks for helping me see the error in my ways, I've seen a bunch of footage of stock c6 z06s getting 10.XX quarter mile times but my screen must've been buggy

now come on why would I say that if it weren't true... you also need the driver mod to get the most out of the z06
