I find it hard to believe that other estimates wouldn't be substantially lower, as well as the option of using non-OEM parts.

Here in Oregon the body shops are printing money--thanks to a quirky law, the insurance company is REQUIRED to pay whatever the body shop chosen by the customer says it costs to fix. No need to shop for the lowest price.

^^^ leads to fraud....and the funny thing is the customer doesn't gain. Remember the days when we were young and healthy, and the health insurance model was HMO, so there was a PCP? Someone was literally on your card, their name printed, Joe B*** MD? You call them the first time you are sick, and reception tells you they don't accept your insurance? Nice one.....wonder how come their name is printed on your card....
