Did Audi ship thousands of cars with same VIN?

As a car gets old/worn out, keys of a similar shape will work in the locks. I know this because I locked they keys in my old beat up Toyota truck once. Co-worker's key for their old beat up Hyundia looked similar, worked like butter in both the door and ignition.
As for the duplicate VIN thing, maybe they're putting the same VIN to cars sold in different countries???? Why they'd do that I don't know. If you're doing that nonsense in the USA, a big state like Texas or California would catch on pretty quick, just based on the volume of new cars sold there.

What? You wouldn't have a unique primary key for every single table that isn't coupled to some other concept (in this case the VIN)? That's how my company does it. And, it feels like overkill much of the time, particularly with child tables.
Makes you wonder how their systems work, for sure.
