Plain and barren inside? Don't see that lol. If anything it has too much going on inside.

It's grown on me, but there are a few things that still mare it. The lack of chrome tailpipe tips on the hybrid is a cheap move. Just because it's a hybrid is no longer and excuse. Tailpipe tips are now a widespread rage and expected on all models, especially cars costing this much. Then, the mangled and excessive C-pillar area really brings the advanced design down. Everything else flows and is clean. Then you get to the messy c-pillar area, where the designer was coming off of too much sake and couldn't practice restrain.
I wish Lexus a lot of luck with the new LS, it appears to be a modern, solid design. It better work, as they'll likely keep it around for ten years to save money.

They make a choice not to put exposed tailpipes on their hybrids. It's not a cost thing, it's a design thing. If anything it costs them money to do that because they have to design and build two rear bumpers and and two exhaust terminations.

For me the weak point is the rear door windows being taller than the front, which is an odd look, and the c pillar area.

I think this is something Lexus struggles with. Many of their cars have certain angles they don't look good from. The LS460 isn't one of those cars, I think it's solidly attractive from every angle.

I want to like this car, can anything be done with the door handles, and potentially the trim around the windows (only mentioning things that are possible).....maybe ratchet back the flashiness a little.....

edit: I definitely agree the interior is an upgrade over the previous generation. The kicker would be that if quality has improved, this may be one h*** of a car on the used market when 7-10 y.o., for those who don't need to be (or can't lol) be the first on the block....hopefully a V8 will be coming later...

imho Infiniti made huge mistakes on their rear styling, and it seems Lexus has followed suit...unless they are setting the trend. Like when the Avalon moved from a nice styling around '99, to the next gen in 2000 which was a box....one never knows, could be a shift.

edit watched again and rear is "ok," and hidden exhaust fine, would love to get a better look at the rear suspension, wonder if they went to forged aluminum control arms on the front? (a premium car should have this, not Mevotech replacements available for $65 lol) It's that Sonata'ish and Accord'ish rear treatment that I don't find to be perfection, but it would be great to be able to root for this car. Lexus needs to climb back on the horse!

You can always wrap any chrome trim you don't like.

I think its ugly... The LS460 atleast had some luxury-design-feel to it left... But this just look like some other car.

as much success as i wish for this new ls, and as high quality and stylized as it is, i don't think the german 3 have anything to worry about.

I'm guessing this might be the worst selling generation of LS, finally stooping to audi a8 sales figures.

Too many similarities to the poor selling Infiniti M.... like window shape in the C pillar area, squigly body sculpting and shape. I'm pretty sure styling is big contributor to poor sales.

At least that Infiniti has a V8.

LOL, I think the G70 is a great looking car. It sells poorly because its ancient.

it sold poorly out of the gate when it was new.
in it's first model year 2011 , it did about 900 per month, and then it was all downhill from there.
Barely 2 years old, it could only sell ~760 per month.
now it's barely hanging onto 500/mo

As a car it's never been a particularly good car, and in an incredibly competitive segment. I don't think that had anything to do with styling.

Stavros dis a great job with the walk-around. While I'm not crazy about the C-pillar, it looks very smoothly integrates from the video. What I mean is it almost looks like the glass is uninterrupted on the exterior and very aerodynamic. Once you open the rear door though, those window pillars are indeed thick. I also don't really care for the door treatment and the small block of Shimamoku around the door handle; looks gaudy. However, I love the seat stitching!

Overall, the car is starting to look better and better. I don't understand the point of paddle shifters on a CVT. The rear touchscreen controls are more modern and offer greater flexibility in design but I hope the display doesn't burn out or get damaged from heat.

Did Stavros say "an available 24-inch heads-up display"?!?! Holy smokes! What does that even look like and wouldn't that be a huge distraction? The front and rear "height" speakers are intriguing. Gonna have to take a look at one of these when they start appearing in showrooms locally. I do like the increased trunk. I initially thought the front end is too similar to the existing LS but now I see the new design does make the current LS look dated. Still saw some orange peel on the LS500h paint.
