While sedan market is not as profitable as it once was, it sure is reckless to get out of it completely for "large" manufacturer like Ford... But then again, Ford these days is smallest of all full lineup manufacturers, so maybe it makes sense for them.

don't think there's been any mention of ford getting out of sedans completely.

This is what happens when you neglect a model for so long. Then again, over 200k in sales isnt exactly small potatoes. Just means more Camy and Accord sales.

Ford needs to keep some type of midsize car for if/when gas prices go back up again. Perhaps they are thinking of a redesign of the Taurus that would cover both vehicles?

The Fusion was not a long-neglected model. This generation was introduced for the 2013 model year and refreshed for 2017, so it is entering its 6th model year; A new generation would likely be expected in a year or so.

There is already a next-generation Taurus, using this Fusion's platform (and looking very similar to the Fusion). But recent rumours say that it won't be coming here.

At least when the Camry did a refresh before the current gen, it changed the styling. I can't tell the difference between a 2013 and a 2017 Fusion. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. I dont even recall seeing that many commercials of the Fusion. That's call neglect. Or maybe they have, but it didnt stick.
