OK let's move on from this until Matty responds. I'm guessing a simple missed word.

My critique of this ad runs very similar to what I find Hollywood has done for decades: walking talking stereotypes. CGI super hero movies are no different. Not all African people have that particular manner of speaking or some sort of accent, or are some sort of royalty that the ad and the movie depict. That was the point.

I'd say Lexus wants African people to buy LCs and LS vehicles.
This should have had a sarcasm banner since that's what it was meant as. But it appears some of the stoked outrage that was triggered by one member in particular and then followed up with another seems to distract from the postives or negatives of the ad. Odd, that out of my whole post, that particular part is used in quotes to finger wag at my post. This in a country whose president referred to the continent as a country resembling some sort of hole.

Oh well. I agree let's move on.

Trump, with that comment, was refering to most of the Third World, not just African countries. In his view, that also includes a lot of countries in Asia, the Middle East, South/Central America, and the Caribbean.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of stereotype-ads in the car business. Some of the most notorious are for full-size pickups, which can vastly overplay the stereotypes of American ranch-hands, construction-workers, haulers, cattlemen, and those in similar businesses.

Might be a little off-topic, but here's a sneak-preview of some other upcoming Super Bowl ads.

So do you not like the LS or LC ads?

Super Bowl 2016 car ads, best of. You see Hyudai, Kia and Toyota with the Prius. Creative, interesting and fun. Movies condensed into a small window in order to get the audience's attention. It's a lot of dollars when you spend for 30 seconds on the Super Bowl, so that means you really have to have the best creative thinkers, directors and visual effects to carry it all off. You only have one shot to do it right. It gets broadcast live.

Interesting and fun for everyone? Or interesting just for you and not everyone?

There was a time when beer commercials basically featured young women prancing around in bikinis with jocks. You see Budweiser doing more about a "process" and "values" working people commercial. Not so different what you were saying about pickup truck commercials, featuring stock characters in rugged industries. There is a benefit in appealing to sophisticated buyers with techy GFX or tie-ins into movies or culture, but it often can get lost in more memorable commercials.

Didn't see the LC ad. I liked the LS ad where the young guy picks up his girl friend for a date, is offered her dad's new LS, and her dad sneaks along afterward LOL.
