One specific model of Kia being more reliable than a specific model of Lexus does not make the whole brand more reliable than Lexus, LOL.
You would have the same market if you had someone looking at a used Lexus and a new Kia, maybe. Granted that Kia has an appeal, I would not even consider buying a new Kia. With their faster than average depreciation. The smart person, if you really wanted a Kia, would buy one used. The market then even more becomes different.
Same market means same class of car.
Toyota is undisputed #1 when it comes to reliability still.

Like a few others here, I will go out on a limb and say, try a Porsche. A used, CPO, can be had well within your budget, and they are awesome vehicles. I was going to get another RX, but just cannot get past the styling, tried the Merc, was not impressed, almost bought an Audi, that is until a drove a Porsche. Puts a smile on my face every morning when I get in!

The GENESIS spinoff by Hyundai/Kia is the true brand chasing Lexus. They copied Lexus game plan. They are beautiful, high quality cars for thousands less then competitive vehicles. Right now they have limited exposure in the marketplace and are not making major inroads into eroding Lexus market...but the threat exists.

Genesis is the Korean competitor to Lexus.
More cleverly Kia is now the sporting luxury competitor to Lexus - meaning that the Koreans understand that sporting luxury cars appeal to the younger buyer with less well developed finances.
