2020 Ford Explorer to go RWD, get 400-hp ST version

That 10-speed, like with the new transverse-engine 9-speed, was jointly co-developed between Ford and GM for longitudinal RWD/4WD layouts. It will also be used in some RWD GM products.

I'm betting you are right, but i would bet its not called Aviator.
Lincoln needs to go back to names. Not just letters. Zephyr is good. Mercury got swallowed up by Lincoln too. FoMoCo still holds the rights to names like "Mariner", "Marauder" and "Mountaineer" as well.

Yeah it's good to see Lincoln returning to names, rather than alphabet soup.

If, as speculated, this new platform is RWD-ready to help Ford win back North American police interceptor sales, can we expect a RWD replacement for the North American Taurus / Police Interceptor Sedan, in addition to a RWD replacement for the Explorer / Police Interceptor Utility?

I was at the Detroit Autoshow a few weeks back and a old buddy of mine who works for the Lincoln Brand whispered to me that the Aviator would be returning to the lineup after a long hiatus. It makes since for the brand since 3row Luxury crossover seem to be the hot seller right now.
