Reason for not getting the Genesis: The price/incentives were not as good as the GS.. Genesis would've been couple of $k more.
I am going to check out a Volvo and Jaguar in few months since they are offering some KILLER conquest/competitor lease incentives. This is how you steal competitors' customers.

G80 leases for more than a GS350.. right now.. why would ANYONE even LOOK at a Hyundai/Genesis, when the equivalent Toyota/Lexus is CHEAPER?
Only way I am going to check out a G70 is if it leases for LESS than a Q50.. not even the same, I mean LESS.
I will not even walk within 5 blocks of Chevy/Chrysler dealership until they build a car GROUND-up.. every time I get into a rental, I realize that parts from the old-gen are being used in the new model.
I can't figure out why Chevy uses that ugly gauge needles/color/lighting etc.. it's that same crappy perfect circle with green like lighting in the back..
I don't think all Lexus buyers are hung up on the badge, if you want a RWD sedan or a V8 and many of the options/features you simply can't get that at the Toyota dealership, you have to get a IS, GS, or LS. I was not hung up on the Lexus badge when I got my GS, if it was a Toyota I would not have hesitated to buy it unless Lexus had a version that was nicer and had more things I wanted. Buying a Genesis would not bother me after owning a Lexus as long as they are reliable, well built, and hold their value fairly well.

badge works two ways, sometimes someone doesn't buy because they don't want to be associated with the image of the badge (country club set, etc.).

They have got to get rid of this imitative logo on their cars. Just doesn't give it any legitimacy. I doubt anybody trying to avoid badge snobbery wants a Genesis to somehow evoke Bentley dreams.

Chrysler also uses wings. I don't see any problem with it.

An L in an oval is imaginative? When their parent company is a T in an oval? LOL

Maybe this will push Lexus to step up their IS line. My first car at 16 was a 2001 IS300 and later I had a 2006 IS350. I always thought I would own the 3rd generation just to say I had owned all 3, but IMO, the 3rd generation is crap. The only problem I see with Genesis is nothing is original. They copy all the other makes instead of doing their own thing. I get that they are trying to play it safe, but I would assume this turns off some people. I wish the G70 success, but from the lack of the G80 and G90 I see here on the road here in LA, I wouldn't hold my breath that this car is going to take them to the next level. That being said, I would easily consider a G80 5.0 or G90 when I'm looking to a new car in the future.

To be fair, my wife, who is married to me, a car guy, thought the Genesis had a Chrysler badge at first glance. She thought we had picked up the wrong rental car, lol.

how many other mainstream sports or luxury sedans have twin turbo v6's besides the infiniti q50 red sport?

... the lack of the G80 and G90 I see here on the road here in LA
well it is LA... (aka image matters) but yeah, it's gonna take years if ever for them to make a dent. having said that the g80 is selling pretty well overall. but now it's in need of a refresh i'd say.

That being said, I would easily consider a G80 5.0 or G90 when I'm looking to a new car in the future.
that's funny... maybe there's more out there like you?

I second that. And what legitimacy does any brand's logo have when the brand is in its infancy? Legitimacy comes over time from a reputation of quality products.

And on the flip side, I would have no idea that was the Chrysler logo. How many logos has Chrysler gone through in the last 30 years? They completely change it at least every 10 years.

Did you get a sense of pricing?

I might have to go check it out next time I'm in Mississauga and see it up close, but from what I can tell from pics on the web and yours, the interior parts bin sharing with the Stinger is apparent:
- Gauge cluster
- HUD
- wiper/light control stalks
- secondary lower dash buttons and hood latch
- steering wheel paddle shifters
- steering column cover and tilt button
- cup holders
- NAV screen and software
- USB, charging port, and wireless charging pad
- aluminum pedals
- front seat controls and seat shape
- seat back/netting

I disagree. The copycat logos serve their cars very well as the entire car is basically a copycat.

So what? You are bothered that they don't use another nav supplier? Or that the USB port is the same? Or that the HUD is not in a different font? It's how they keep the price of the car under control. It's not like 1980s GM, where you couldn't tell the difference between the interior of any of their brands.

I agree. All these cars have 4 doors and 4 wheels. It's getting ridiculous!
