That engine had to be durable. With a 9000 RPM redline, 8600 HP peak, and 7600 RPM torque-peak in its initial version, that's a lot of potential wear and stress on the moving parts. Plus, of course, the oil pump has to be able to supply an engine spinning that fast with adequate oil-pressure.
