Back when Lexus made good looking cars ...

Op knows whats good. The less lines a car has the better. If you want people to appreciate the design, you can't put in too much detail or the eyes can't process it. Same goes for some actions movies these days.

Great picture!!! Personally out of those cars pictured, the RX was the most radical at that time. Granted I'd rather have a pristine SC or GS of that era, but the 1st gen RX, man that car completely redefined the luxury car market, it was the first car based "luxury crossover". Also the styling was a bit wild IMO, I mean who else tinted the back windows freaking gold lol.

The new RX is ugly and whats worse is that the performance don't match the looks. If its that ugly, gotta make it fast
The last gen IS was too feminine for me...you need to be more aggressive in a performance sedan. The current gen is a great looker. The GS and LS look better now than before as I like the spindle grill.

For sheer beauty and handsomeness of design, here's my vote for probably the best-looking Lexus ever done....the 1Gen SC. Ironic, because IMO, its successor 2Gen was one of the worst.

Original SC still looks fantastic today, timeless. Amazing how Lexus went from that, to one of the ugliest cars they've ever made.

I googled 2000 lexus lineup and this was close enough. I, too, overlooked that they were all beige haha

I still like the 2nd generation SC design but it was definitely aimed for a different customer than the first generation SC.
I was thinking that the vehicles were silver but they had an orange sunset filter edited over the photo.
I like how around the early and mid-2000s that each of the front of the Lexus vehicles were different as opposed to the current corporate spindle grille on all of the vehicles.

While I think the older Lexus designs were quite beautiful and elegant, I can appreciate where the brand has gone and find their current designs to be very attractive across the board and is a key part of what got me into the brand in the first place. Not sure I feel comfortable admitting this (lol) but I actually find the current RX F-Sport with the triple beams to be extremely attractive and probably one of my favorite current Lexus exterior designs. Can't help but stare every time I see one on the road.

someone may have pointed this out before, but if you look at the lineups, Lexus did have a similar v (upside down trapezoid) shaped upper grill across its lineup, which varied slightly with each different model. size and length varied and some are more rounded than others etc.. I wish they did go back to that grill design...

I too appreciate where the brand has gone, yet some have timeless beauty. My wife just got a 2018 RX350L, and I’m shopping for a 2002-2007 SC430. The differences are stark, yet satisfying.
