Steve Carlisle replaces Johan de Nysschen as head of Cadillac

I agree Nysschen wasn't necessarily an ideal chief, but he also seems to be getting blamed for things that weren't his doing, or his fault.

If he's out, Cadillac had just better stick to his words that they won't abandon performance models like the ATS-V Coupe and CTS-V no matter how many more middling and boring cash-cow Super Cruise SUVs they add to their lineup.
Agreed on the silliness of his ideas for vehicle brand model families. Infiniti was easier to understand when they used multiple letters. Now everything is a "Q" at Infiniti. At Cadillac it's only so much better after he made similar changes.

Cadillac head abruptly replaced
I don't know all the politics and details, but imho as a GM owner, the co. needs to be shaken up....
Now here's something different, stating the reason is "reluctance to accelerate product plans in order to capitalize on current US market conditions." That is far different from simply saying he was abrasive. I'm sure we've all experienced accelerating plans in our own jobs--sometimes it works, sometimes it does not:

Just curious, has there been any evidence that all of the name changing he did at Cadillac and Infiniti actually helped in any discernible way? As far as I can tell, most people are still confused by the new model names at Infiniti.

That's what happens when you're the boss. It's part of the job--if Cadillac did gangbusters, it's not all because of him, but he'd get some yuge bonus. Don't do well, then don't let the door hit you on the rear on your way out.

i don't find it confusing these days since they aligned things more clearly... A, B, C, E, S sedans, GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS (and niche G) utes (and 4 door 'coupes' basically fastback utes), SLC, SL 2 door coupes and a few other niche vehicles.

Do you really care more about the letters and numbers stuck on the back, or how the car looks, the features and the driving/ownership experience?
