Those huge wheels rotate so slowly (in relation to actual road speed) that an indicated 60 probably never shows up on the speedometer LOL.

It's interesting. I can understand for this type of vehicle, why they would design it as such. The one area sedans excel over SUVs is in clearly defining passenger space vs cargo space. In a (well-insulated) sedan, you're not going to hear noises coming from the rear of bags being ruffled, objects sliding around/hitting each other, etc. whereas in an SUV, the cargo areas and passenger areas are essentially the same space. This is not the ideal luxury driving experience and is why I'd have a hard time stepping into an SUV despite how much I've wanted to over the last few years. I truly enjoy the higher seating position and view and not to mention added interior space to move around. I'm 6'4 and even in my GS I can feel quite cramped at times.

Being that this is a Maybach, the highest offering of luxury from Mercedes-Benz, they could've either gone with the more traditional SUV-shaped route and separated the cargo area which results in a quite messy and very after-thought looking design (see Volvo XC90 Excellence with its awkward partition) or they could've gone with this, which is a high-bodied sedan. Personally, I think this is the best of both worlds. It may take some time to get used to the looks of it but if this ever sees the light of the day, I would definitely take a second look at it (assuming my wallet agrees when this debuts ).

No,no,no,no. You can't even consider these SUV's of late to a LX570. Are you going to say that the off-roading ability of something like this will be on the same level? Now where you would not go wrong is a G63. Unfortunately someone has decided that all 4x4's these days SUV's. And you could not pay me to drive a Bentley Bentayga, crap on wheels if you ask me. At least the LX570 has some purpose about it being an off-road vehicle at its core, but what is a Bentley Bentayga?

Apparently they don't like to be outclassed, so when they heard everyone saying that the Bentayga was the ugliest luxury SUV ever, they took that as a challenge. Congratulations Mercedes, you win.

.......Its a Bentley....also your lx570 is way to close to the ground to take offroad. Your suv is meant for getting starbucks, groceries, and the kids from soccer practice just as the bentley is.

So don't call the Bentayga a SUV because it is not. The LX and the GX and the 4Runner are SUVs. Cars like the Bentayga are crossovers, unibody cars dressed up with the height, and large wheels and tires to look like a real SUV.

Crossovers are station wagons on steroids, not real, truck-based utility vehicles.

What you do not take into consideration, though, is that, while, yes, the approach/breakover/departure angles on an LX don't compare with those of, say, a Range Rover, the LX, unlike the Toyota Land Cruiser it is based on, has a AHS (Adjustable Height Suspension) that raises or lowers the entire vehicle at the simple touch of a button. That alone, in the full-up position, adds several more inches of ground clearance.

Your suv is meant for getting starbucks, groceries, and the kids from soccer practice just as the bentley is.
I disagree. The LX570, like its Land Cruiser twin, is truck-based, with a heavy-duty frame for off-roading. One does not need that kind of frame and toughness for simple grocery-shopping.....any crossover, car-based SUV can do that.
