Default Lexus in Italy

My wife and I were just in Venice, Florence, and Rome for vacation. We were surprised of how few luxury auto makers besides the european ones were there. Tons of Range Rovers, BMWs, and Mercedes. On the other hand spotted a lot of Toyota models that are hybrids used as taxis. Finally we saw a current generation NX and RX hybrid! Had some options that are not available in the US such as F-sport hybrid NX. Glad to be back home to the smooth roads in the US but thought I should share some “spotted lexus” pics!

Ahhh Rome, so dirty and smelly....

I loved all the beautiful little hot hatches in Paris. Citroen and Renault make some gorgeous cars. The Audi A1 there also looks nice.

Thanks.....some nice shots.

Glad to be back home to the smooth roads in the US
Interesting. I would have thought roads in Europe, particularly in the mild sunny Mediterranean countries, would have been a lot smoother than here in the U.S....at least in the northern U.S. and its harsh winter climate. Not only is the weather in Southern Europe much nicer on the roads (fewer destructive freeze/thaw cycles and less salt used), but they also (proportionally) collect higher taxes, and one would think that more money would be available for re-paving and road maintenance.

In a way it could be. Highways and major roads are, normally well maintained. But lots of those roads are incredibly old. Add to that, a different cultural approach of "maintaining roads", that you can find into every remote areas in France or Italy and you will be in for a, sometimes, tough ride. We also like, in the EU, to put corners absolutely everywhere on our little roads, adding lots of twists to an already tattered concrete. The post-subprime crisis didn't helped this whole situation at all.
But it explains why our cars are, in general, made like how they are made.
