Why does an LS460 depreciate so much more than a 4Runner?

You find that S classes and 7 Series and the LS all are about the same price used for the year, despite the S and 7 being considerably more money new.

I thought so. I figure that is because of the Toyota/Lexus family brand. Generally across the board. Toyota has somewhat better resale vs an immediate competitor

Back in Oct. 2016 when I was shopping used LS430s. Ones with about 80k miles were going for $14,000 from new car dealers. Audi A8's with 55-60k miles, were going for about $2-2.5k less.
I would love to have simply gotten an A8. New, they were $78k+, easily $13k+ more than the LS430. But we all know how that goes. If you can tackle all the DIYs like my uncle can, the Audi is the superior car to drive. No joke, my uncle has no issue at all taking the front end off to fix stuff. But having access to a shop, as opposed to being a shade tree, is the difference.
edit p.s. not earth shattering info, the LS430 has had zero problems in 26k miles and 3 mos. shy of 2 yrs. Only issue was two park assist sensors went bad, $14 ea on eBay. The Audi likely would have needed repairs over the course of 21 mos. Not 100%, but likely. Will I do a used S class at some point? Does a bear you know what in the.....

Those of us who can appreciate the overlall value the LS460 represents over the 4Runner are also looked at with incredulity that we would choose to drive a car instead of what everyone is driving to be accepted into the cool kids club at car line after school or at little leauge practice. There is no common sense in the desire to fit in. It’s just human nature. My mom drove a Chevy Suburban in the early 70’s when the other moms were driving Pontiac Safari’s (24’ station wagon not Astro van) and Ford Country Squires. My dad drove a truck because he built houses. I drove a Jeep Grand Wagoneer because that was the only luxury SUV available with leather and wasn’t like driving a living room. My current 06 LS430 Sport has been nothing but a joy to own and drive for 10 years. It was 3 years old with 35k miles and trouble free. Give me the quiet, confident, capable, low center of gravity, reliable LS any day. You desperate climbers just keep clawing away at those SUVs and I wil enjoy the hour ride home to Ocala from Lexus of Tampa Bay after inking a sweet deal on one of the most advanced vehicles availablenon the planet. like the Benz S-class models. Of course those are also way overpriced and depreciate faster than burning money in an old oil drum, but man they have one hell of an engine under the hood at least.

I always thought the LS600 hybrid was overpiced for what you got to start with. Its not like it has a gonzo twin turbo V12 that's also used in the Pagani Huayra.
