I hope everyone is wrong and Lexus does a 180 with a surprise GS teaser by 2019.
Also - I read that the Lexus ES will only sell as a hybrid model in Europe? If the GS is canceled in Europe but they only sell the hybrid ES there, doesn't that sort of comes off as they don't care about that segment anymore?

But it will never be a GS. =/

There is a video from the UK that does review that talks about some of the cheaper plastics and stuff. Overall he liked it. I just cannot find the video name now.
Non US models will have reclining seat backs as an option. Wow!

Yeah. The 7G Lexus ES doesn't have power side folding mirrors and heated rear seats. But I think the Avalon has heated rear seats, which is so weird.

Lexus chooses too, but the reason is because hybrids and EVs comprise the majority of new car sales. In 2016 hybrids and EV's accounted for 40% of new-car registrations. In 2017 that number jumped to 52%. It also helps that the Norwegian government incentivizes electrified cars by reducing or eliminating taxes and tolls, and owners get access to free parking and charging. The incentives are part of Norway's push to eliminate fossil fuel sales in the country before 2030. Some parts of the country are beginning to charge additional road tolls for owners of diesel vehicles.

Nobody buys large car petrols in western europe these days... only cars like Yaris sell well with petrol engines due to cost reasons.

Why is everybody so worried about GS Lol. My heart tells me GS is not going anywhere, IF anything it is going to take a small break and come back 10 times better. Toyota probably halted the new gen GS development to work on other important project such as LF-1, new SUV lineup etc. if ES has shown this much improvement, think about what the future GS is going to be like.

Yes, its on GA-K platform, which is shared with Camry and Avalon. But the ES has some Body difference, such as aluminum hood, fenders and chassis braces.
Lexus Enthusiast have a really good technical breakdown of the 7ES: https://lexusenthusiast.com/2018/06/...hnical-review/

Even some Camry models have that in some Asian countries. Keep in mind, in the US owners are not usually driven around in the ES, so the back seat is not a priority. But abroad the US they take ES, Camry as a pseudo executive car.
