would you buy a lexus ux or a tesla model 3

i would get a 3, not just because it's way better looking.
you hear about batteries exploding on impact, but have you heard of any breaking down for any other reason?
I'm willing to bet electric cars are simpler than combustion cars. No complex engines, no complex transmissions..
Those Consumer Reports reliability reports only talk about nitpicking stuff like fit and finish.
oh yeah, and the 0-60 times to merge onto the freeway and blow people's doors off.

i'd get a ux over a tesla 3 because:
ux has more utility
ux doesn't have 'range anxiety'
ux doesn't require me to put an expensive charging setup in my home (neither does 3 but without it it takes forever to recharge)
ux doesn't have an interior that's plainer than a walmart bathroom
ux can be leased - in this age of rapidly changing technology i don't want to buy something that will be obsolete in a few years
tesla should have done a compact utility and not the 3. maybe next model. and the x needs to be replaced (no crazy expensive and complex doors, less frumpy, better made, less expensive).

I haven't driven a UX, but if the UX drives how I would imagine it to based on how the NX drives, then it'd be the 3, no contest. The 3 is roomy and practical, not to mention a lot quicker and of course has a lot of wow factor that would make it fun. I could see the UX having some of those qualities but not being anywhere near as fun as the Model 3. The 3 feels very direct and light on its feet, in fact very similar in the way it drives to my IS, if maybe just a touch more responsive to be honest. But, the UX probably has a more comfortable seating position and will be a bit easier to live with overall, since it doesn't require learning how to electric car as part of your daily routine. I don't think it's really a fair comparison though. They are very different, and I think you'd know which one you wanted pretty quickly after driving both.

Tesla does not offer test drives on their model 3 yet, so I'm trading wife's RX for a UX hybrid F very late this year, (or if I don't like it, then a slightly used NX).
On my 6th Lexus, with no problems with any, so I always consider another Lexus in with any equation when looking for new cars.
Current plan is to trade out my 2015 RCF for the Tesla roadster, once that becomes available, (if Tesla really plans t make it).

I was lucky enough to test out the Model 3 when Electric Car Guest Drive was in town... Something to look for I guess.
