35KYTD is not very good for a mainstream brand new model. Sales usually do not improve after the first sales year. This vehicle was made for world markets that don’t have the past Blazer nameplate baggage. I am sure China outsells the US 2:1 and worldwide its 3 or 4:1. Whatever, the Blazer to me is pretty a pretty crappy effort. Further disappointing that the the building of the vehicle was farmed out to Mexico. But if it appeals to you, and if you like it, that’s all good.

As pointed out, those 35k sales thru Oct are just the US. For the quarter Blazer sales were higher than Telluride, Palisade as well as some other well known models from other brands. Not too shabby overall in a competitive segment.

Are Equinox/Terrain sales down?

I think your only issue with this vehicle is that they build it in Mexico.

As for sales, it’s only been fully inventoried and in full production for a few months, give it time.

I'm with Jill on all counts. And I'll add one thing she didn't....while the base and mid-level versions are reasonably-priced, the upper-trim versions are, IMO, too pricey for what you get. Max out a Premier version (I did on the Custom-Build feature), and you can spend into the mid-50s, though incentives or Package-Discounts may bring that down a little. Still, my opinion is pretty much what as it is for the top-line 2020 Ford Explorer....it is simply not worth that kind of $$$$$.....not when you can get a nicely-equipped Lincoln Corsair (or a base-level Aviator), and Lincoln's noted customer-perks, for that.

I will, however, give the Blazer credit for one thing (see, folks...I'm not totally-biased LOL) . It comes with the N/A 3.6L V6 and 9-speed automatic as an option....the Explorer makes you choose between a turbo-4 and a drag-strip twin-turbo V6, and the Corsair comes with only two turbo 4s.

I have the same 3.6L and 9-speed in my Lacrosse, and love it....except for an occasional mid-range shift-hiccup, the powertrain runs and shifts smooth as butter, particularly when warmed up, and, though I'm not an aggressive driver, has enough power to easily get out of its own way.

I don’t think I find anything appealing about the Blazer. I think we were the first to sit in it at the Toronto Auto Show this past year or the last. I think I commented about it in there, would interesting to read what I said in that thread. However, I usually don’t find most cross overs that appealing (I think I have been pretty consistent across all threads) when I think of an SUV replacement, I would find a body on frame SUV from more appealing. I guess this comes from 35+ years of body on frame ownership.

A cross over to replace a car, I definitely see the appeal.

If it were built upon the midsize truck foundation, I think the name would be proper.

If you mean cheaper, sure. I rented an Equinox; I would not buy that car at any price. I can't think of a single compact crossover that isn't better than the Equinox.

Jeep Compass?

(I'd also say the Fiat 500X and Ford EcoSport, but, technically, they are subcompacts, not compacts).

OK--but that's not the benchmark GM wants to hit.
