Hah yeah I saw this on my phone's news feed. Corrupt official blaming his inept ability to follow traffic laws on the Lexus . Hope he loses his re-election

I agree that is exaggerating, but there is actually some truth to it. The LS and Mercedes S-class are arguably the two smoothest, quietest, most comfortable mass-produced sedans in the American market....second only to the custom-built Bentley and Rolls. It is not hard to let your speed get carried away if you are not using cruise control or a light foot. If I were the cop, I'd let the guy off with a stern warning......but that there would be no second chances, even for a State Representative. Next time, a ticket, fine...and perhaps a Reckless Driving charge, if Arizona is like my home state of Virginia that considers Reckless to be 20 MPH + over the posted limit.

I believe that everyone is entitled to one serious mistake behind the wheel, but that one has to learn from it. If they don't....then there are consequences.

I've had 4 Lexus LS sedans over 20 years, and somehow I've never "let my speed get away from me". Yes its smooth and quiet, and solid and it feels like its going slower than it is...but it has this big dial on the dashboard that shows your speed...works great

Oh, I agree. No more second chances for this guy. He has no more excuses....can't hide behind the fact that he is a politician. But this kind of stuff sometimes happens because of simple driver-distraction....instead of actually watching his speed, he may have been too busy with a portable device trying to record his next campaign speech LOL.

Absolutely. If the guy had said 80-100mph, yeah sure, heck I'm guilty of that with some Lexus's. But, going 120-140mph is a significant difference, and you're burying your foot into the pedal. Guy knows what he was doing, and IMMEDIATELY pulled the immunity card as if he believes he's better than the law. I'd BOOK HIM!

I go 145 all the time in my LS, swiftly, sometimes 160! Can't you see sometimes the speed just hypnotize me?

Can't say I've never broken the speed limit, but 120-140 is waaaay too fast. At such speed a blown tire is pretty much a death sentence.

They should have done what they just did in MI, use a phone app to flip a coin to decide if he's getting cuffed or not.

As far as bragging, we all know the story of Kasich here, right, how he treated a State Trooper upon being pulled over (and he was driving a FWD Avalon?). He went on a tirade mentioning this incident everywhere he went. Very odd.
