Toyota, and many Japanese companies, likes to invest in bad companies or ones with bad management. What's next Toyota? You gonna invest in Tesla?

Toyota should have invested in an updated 2jzgte (3.4L ) for the new Supra instead of laying in bed with BMW

Toyota is shooting left and right to catch up in EV and autonomy. This is obviously marketing as they want to be Uber's car once autonomous fleet deploys. Good for them if they can make it work.

Now I wonder why Toyota has never shelled out the money to be the F1 or MotoGP pace car? There is no better ad for MB than seeing AMG GT-R pacing the fastest race cars in the world.

Toyota did, in fact, partner with Tesla, back in 2010. Toyota sold its NUMMI factory (which GM abandoned during its bankruptcy) to Tesla, and Tesla provided the battery and EV drivetrain for the Gen2 RAV4 EV.

Toyota sold its Tesla shares in 2017 in order to pursue EVs on its own.

i dont think they sold the shares to pursue EVs on its own (they always did this), but rather they did it since they did not see anything valuable in the cooperation the future.
Even more so, they dissolved their partnership and stake in Isuzu, that was there for decade or more, but simply they found no touching points they can work on together.
