Default Amazon buys 20,000 Mercedes vans

This makes Amazon the largest purchaser of the Sprinter van.

They're working hard to lessen dependence on ups, fedex, usps, etc.

Not to mention all the rental vans Amazon drivers have been using for the past few years. Nearly all of my Amazon deliveries come in a van with an "Enterprise Truck Rental" sticker on the side. Now that they've got the local logistics spun up, it's got to be a ton cheaper to own the fleet rather than rent it.

Interesting. What I read from the article is Amazon will effectively lease these out to the business owners. So it also seems like a way for Amazon to get a slice of the revenue of leasing out the trucks from the business owners.

interestingly, my employer doesn't let Amazon delivery trucks thru the front gate like UPS and FEDEX.

All just to underpay their workers.

Such a general statement. Look around Seattle (and surrounding areas) and the folks buying/leasing the expensive real estate.
At least they are creating more jobs for delivery drivers that don't have a chance with UPS/FedEx/USPS. And besides, people choose where they are employed.

Amazon has also been helping the bottom line of Hyundai and Great Dane, both makers of 53' trailers. These ride on the BNSF Railway, which is also seeing a spike in intermodal revenue.

A neighbor went home for lunch and caught this. She said she came out of her home to take pictures and the driver drove off. Amazon said they will pay expenses. I searched for Amazon MB back up cameras for this model and only found add on options with a quick search.

Sure Amazon bought the trucks. What they didn't do was make sure they got 20,000 qualified drivers

But pretty soon they won't need hardly any drivers.
