Mini considers axing all 2-door hardtop models

Kind of contradictory of them to suggest that they want to return to the roots of the original Mini Cooper with the next generation... but that they're also strongly considering dropping the two-door hardtop variants.
Market trends aside, that variant IS Mini. Kill that off and you no longer have any connection to what made the original cars great in the first place. They're *supposed* to be small and cramped and only have two doors plus a rear hatch.
The current market trends are what they are but they sure are perplexing. Perhaps also... too many companies are quick to kill off the lower volume model variants that truly stand out from their common keeping-up-with-the-Joneses offerings. Even in Europe, apparently :/
