While on topic of discussing Q50, here is one of Red Sport vs RCF (both with mods AFAIK):

Notice that Q50 pulled about 3 cars ahead and continued to keep the pace, although I suspect that RCF will eventually reel it in once the top speed has been obtained by both cars. Q50 is on 7-speed, so this makes sense.

Thoughts?

^^ A TT 3.0 V6 is no slouch those results aren't surprising.

The 2nd gen IS350 has more aggressive rear differential (rear axle drive) gear. 1st through 3rd gears are aggressive, and on top of that aggressive rear diff gear makes this car go so fast. Even the 4th gear is aggressive, give you enough power to get to 125 mph quickly. The 3rd gen 8 speed IS350 has taller gear ratio on the rear diff.. That's why that 8 speed gears wouldn't cut it. 2nd gen IS350's are getting 4.8~ 4.9 sec 0-60. 0-100 in 12.7 sec which is very quick even for today's standards.

The '15 model Q50 is naturally aspirated 3.7 liter engine and has very aggressive 7 speed gears that's why they run so well. They are pretty fast cars. Faster than the G37 7 speed counterpart. Q50's power advantage comes at higher speeds say from 80~ 150+ mph. A lot of roll racing fans go after these cars because they do well in roll racing. It's suppose to be even faster than the 370z.

I think the one in the video is 3.0 Turbo instead of the 3.7, though, at least according to the author of the video.

The OP's post is about a 2015. 2015 models still had the 3.7.

I think I unintentionally hijacked the thread by posting a video about the newer Q50, oops.

That is interesting and what I suspected about the 2nd Gen IS gearing/aggressive rear differential which I am sure also applies to the 3rd Gen GS350. If you could put that gearing into the 3rd Gen IS350 and 4th Gen GS350 6 speed auto's that would probably be the best way to make them quicker and perform better if you don't run into a bunch of problems, more so then intake/exhaust and other common mods that often don't net big gains in performance. Wonder if anyone or a shop has attempted to do that for the GS and the parts are already available from 2nd and 3rd Gen cars.

Yeah those 3rd gen GS350 gets up and go too, only a little slower than the IS350. Some IS-F owners have actually upgraded their rear diff gear to the ones from the IS350. They can get killer performance out of that by just replacing one gear. Yeah the 3rd gen IS350's 8 speed has closer ratios than the 6 speed counterpart. So if they put on the IS350 rear diff on the 3rd gen it would improve performance tremendously. Your first gear will be crazy short as a result, might not be too practical for normal / gentle driving but for drag racing that would be the way to go..
