Having more tech, IMO, does not necessarily make it a better vehicle. When I ordered my Lacrosse, for example, I specifically left out a number of features that were offered in higher-up packages that I didn't want or need.....mostly stuff that, IMO, the driver should be doing for himself/herself.

Hello. Isn't this the exact same car than the older brothers of this car ?
It looks like a minimal cosmetic refresh to me.

Whatever, I would not touch a car like that with a 30 miles poles. Audi is a very popular brand in Switzerland, problably the most commonly used with VW, BMW and Mercedes. But the VAG aftersale service is something that need to be seen. Imagine a certain US President running a consumer desk in a car company. Yes, it's that bad.

rly.

Proportions seem quite similar no?

Proportions are one thing. The LS has a much shorter front overhang. I'd take the LS and it's mid-engined RWD layout over the A8's FWD-based roots any day. I'd also much rather spend my time in the LS' beautifully styled interior over the plain fingerprint magnet of an interior found in the Audi.

What a work of art.

The A8, in its body lines, is definitely the more conservative of the two...I think the majority of people here would agree on that.

I sat in the new A8 at the last auto show. Very nice. The LS500 is nice too. But I think the A8 looks better and I like the touchscreens

The A8, at least its exterior, will satisfy those who prefer a somewhat more traditional-look sedan, though I'd be happier if sedans went back to real rooflines and trunk-lines instead of the humpback-whale/high-deck-lid stuff that ruins rear visibility and sometimes rear headroom.

I hear what you mean. But I think the LS needed to be daring and different. I don’t think it worked. But time will tell. I do think it would of been perfect if they made it into a hatch the Porsche Panamera.

The A8 has had an interesting side collision mitigation party trick on its active suspension for a couple of years and it will have it on the 2019.

I like the new A8, I obviously like conservative looking cars. Not sure about Audis new interiors though, they're a little tech-ey and cold to me. Will have to see it in person.

My issue is, over $100k I'd have a hard time not getting an S Class.

The Germans style their cars in a Bauhaus esthetic and evolve the styling. That's why the S class, BMW and this Audi A8 stick very close to established design cues on the outside but go all out nuts on technology under the skin. But of course, you pay for the badge with the mark up on snob appeal.

This A8 looks clean, elegant and athletic. Not too different from a 10 year old A8. It shows why you won't see shrieky hysterical styling elements on the outside - there is no need for that in this class of cars. The car speaks for itself and a potential buyer isn't interested in making a statement, that's for others.

The limiting factor on an A8 is always in the fact that it is a FWD longitudinal drivetrain, if that matters to buyers - and it should in the $100K range. An S class is the king of the category. But the A8 is not a slouch and has tech and features different from the S and the 7.

Agreed. Nobody spends this kind of money on a car without wanting to make some sort of statement.
