I am thinking that setting up boutique tire stores in shopping centres is a good idea. We are starting to see mini-showrooms for cars in fancy storefronts in shopping centres, so why not bring something as important as tires into the adjacent storefront?

And it can only be a good thing if we start to pay attention to tires because they have been professionally shown in attractive storefront displays, with knowledgeable salespeople who are willing to answer questions, rather than ignoring them because we only ever see them treated as nothing but a leaning tower of black rubber in a dusty corner.

I am confident that a good, portable tire-mounting and -balancing setup could be set up on a specially-prepared trailer that could be towed behind a pickup truck, or MB Sprinter or Ford Transit van.

Do try to read at least the first paragraph of the annual report before getting all snarky about what you assume it says.

Goodyear is one of the world’s largest operators of commercial truck service and tire retreading centers. In addition, it operates approximately 1,000 tire and auto service center outlets where it offers its products for retail sale and provides automotive repair and other services.

Nobody is being snarky. Thanks for the info. More than likely those are franchises. But if not, perhaps I am wrong. Not the end of the world.

all I am against is buying directly from the manufacturer. It keeps prices high and they can withhold new products whereas you have to go through the manufacturer while eventually it will come to dealers. As for going to the customer with a truck and doing the tires, that has been done before and these companies already exist.

I'm in my late 30's and would pay for this type of service. I hate waiting around while my car gets serviced, even at those cozy Lexus dealerships. Not to mention the time it takes to get there and back.

I think it'll fail because I'm guessing it will be way overpriced vs going to a local Discount Tire or Firestone store.

for that reason alone I would NEVER use the service.

If they can balance your tires and perform a full alignment then I am definitely interested. If not, then I would still have to go to tire shop to get the alignment.

I have spent > 3 hours with an appointment waiting to have 4 tires installed plus get an alignment. Would love to get this service done from the comfort of my home vs a dirty shop with stale, burnt coffee. Town Fair tire near me comes to mind waiting 3+ hours. Hate that place..........

hahahahaha when I was a kid I lived in CT, that chain still exists? Incredible. One time I had to get my Porsche serviced too and it was right next to that place. I find it hard to fathom how Costco didn't put these sub standard chains out of business. Tire Rack for that matter.....

Pretty soon, someone will start a spoon feeding service for millenials. Spoon feed what? Anything and everything, including thinking and breathing.

Goodyear also has stand alone tire shops...so they're in both businesses.

I think this is a great idea, and there are already some third party companies who do this. Sign me up!

Are these Goodyear stores franchises or owned by Goodyear?

these services already exist. It’s nothing new.

If it took Millennials to figure out something so simple as a really convenient way to get tires installed, maybe I'll stop bashing them....

It works for SafeLite with glass install; why not tires? Mobile detailers? It's really a great idea.

What's the difference? When Dunkin Donuts offers a new flavor donut, do you differentiate whether it's a corporate owned store, or a franchisee? To customers, there's no difference.
