Alberta, Canadia car dealers have hopes to ban all "Imported RHD Asian cars"
I'm not sure that this push will truly have the teeth it would need to make this happen and in all of Canada at that but since most people won't be familiar with the classic Japanese imported car market such that it will not get a lot of attention I think it might be of interest.
Moreover as the article goes on to say, if there were some issue of national concern then why limit such a proposed ban to just classic right hand drive Asian cars? Why not also 15+ year old RHD European cars? The wording was "RHD Asian vehicles" and that would technically also include Tata, Hyundai and Geely among others but it appears to be focused on Japanese imported right hand drive cars.
Hopefully for the sake of Canadian residents who like classic grey market cars this goes nowhere.
