i've driven a base C6 too and i really didn't think it was that bad tbh but it's definitely apparent you're in something with "sporty" intentions

yea well you also have a WRX and A5 sport each with big wheels so i imagine the corvette would seem comfortable after that lol

WRX w/18s is bad even with soft sidewall tires.
on Corvettes, a lot of guys guys swap the RFT for regular tires to get much more comfy ride as well.....I thought the RFTs were fine and the C5 and C6 seats are super comfy for me (6ft 175lbs)

Drove an F Type S-V8 RWD convertible.
Amazing drive. I think that might be my car. I am going to drive that and the SC430 again, back to back. I know they are very different cars, but I need to decide if I am willing to sacrifice sportiness for more luxury (SC430) or luxury for more sportiness (F-type).
I can't get over how good that Jag V8 sounds with the top down. I found the car a bit cumbersome to get into with the top up, but not terrible. Seat bolsters were a bit much, however with about 20lbs more weight loss (which I am working on) they will be much more comfortable. The acceleration is really good, the car is overall very planted. The ride is good on smooth roads, a bit harsh on rougher asphalt but nothing like the C6 vette. Those paddle shifters are awesome, the trans shifts with instantaneous precision.
With that said, with a simple exhaust modification, I could make the SC sound almost as good, but with it just being a plain old auto (no paddle shifters), it won't drive or sound anything like the F-type. 2 totally different types of car.

The 2009 Carrera S you drove looks like a nice car if you can settle on a number you're happy with and the history is good. First year of the 997.2 so newer 9A1 engine without an IMS. The poster above correctly highlighted possible IMS issues with M96/M97 but they were far more prevalent with older cars and were less prevalent with the later cars. I sold my 997 to get the F Type but I personally wouldn't be unduly concerned about owing say an 08 even though it has the M97. With that said, if you can get a 997.2 (2009 on, until the 991 debuted) they are a better choice (997.1 to .2 was a pretty big jump) although some say the 997.1 had more responsive steering (hydraulic vs electric assist).
Still hoping you drive an F Type!

Failure rate ("grenading") was about 10% on older M96 engines and only about 1% on the M97 (997.1) engines. But the oiling system on the M96 and M97 are not sufficient for high-G (more than about .7 of .8 G I think) turns so that tracked cars might develop bore scoring. So scoping the cylinders for an M96 / M97 during a PPI might be a good idea. The Porsche operator's manual warned that use of "race tires" (allowing higher-G turns) would void your warranty. 9A1 has a much better oiling system. The hydraulic steering rack was maintained for all 997 and 987 cars - the electric assist appeared with the 991 / 981 cars in 2013. 991 / 981 cars maintained the 9A1 engine.
p.s. it's funny when you get to experience "sporty." I drive the LS430 daily and am used to it, it's like a mattress on wheels. Take an onramp to the bridge at 50 (might be a 40 limit) and the car is begging for a more reasonable speed, maybe 30 lol
Take the BMW out with Pilot Super Sports and same onramp at 65, happy as a quahog in Rhode Island. I always thought Japanese engine, German chassis, it would be like Reese's peanut butter cups...
