Saw a new G90 out on the wild today near the marina. Looked good on the street. Better than in the pics as blending in real life makes a big difference

Saw my first new G90 today up close, though I didn't get a chance to sit inside. Older white male, pulled up in the parking lot I was shopping in, a couple of spaces over from me. Superlative exterior fit and finish.....the paint job on this car (dark red) was as about as good as anything I have seen from Lexus, which, up to now, IMO, along with Audi, have been the industry paint-standards for mass-produced vehicles.

I do think, though, that Genesis, on a car this expensive, should offer a wider color choice than the usual white/black/gray/silver/dark blue/dark red.

They do... in Korea. There's generally a lot more customization options on the Korean versions, but you have to pay for it. Genesis limits customization here to keep the price down.

Based on the pics above, I like the interior a lot, but I'm not pleased by the front or rear exterior styling. The wheels are not to my liking either. I'm not surprised: styling is not an Asian strong suit in my book. Perhaps I would have a different opinion if I saw it in person.

I was hoping the Korean's could fill the void left by Lexus and their mis-steps of late, but it's not happening.

I actually think they're poised to fill that void quite well...

It's coming. Just wait till the GV80 becomes available.

i don't know what 'book' yours is, but the LC500, infiniti Q60, Supra, Datsun 240 (going way back), and many other Japanese cars have been or are truly iconic and spectacular designs.

about the g90... first off they've apparently got some new optional wheels coming that i think are already available in s. Korea.

Well they (genesis) still offer a v8 powered large sedan. They're about to launch a rwd based very luxury suv. The g70 has won about every award out there, although with the market swing to cuvs/suvs, teslas, and bmw refreshing its line strongly, the g70 hasn't moved the needle a whole lot in terms of sales.

Agreed. And have you sampled or test-driven a G70? The one I sampled, with the turbo-four, not only had excellent fit/finish, but, material-wise, felt like it was carved out of a block of granite. The ride was a little stiff for my tastes, but, if I wanted a compact sports-sedan, I'd whip out my checkbook for one in a heartbeat.

You are correct that it is only the SUV-craze that is keeping sales of it down.....plus, maybe, potential customers who still live in the long-distant past and think of Hyundai products as repair-shop Queens.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day! The Asian manufacturer's have had a few hits over the decades, but the body of their styling efforts are in last place among the Germans, Italians, Americans, Brits and Swedes (again, in my book). BTW...my book, that I have, that is to say, which is mine, is mine, and that which belongs to me, I own it! (Monty Python, My Theory bit)

that's really quite the sweeping assessment. BMW has certainly brought numerous dud designs to market. Volvo, Ford, GM, Fiat (lol), plenty plenty of duds.

Love Monty Python

Lexus styling it really good. I love it. Genesis is looking good too. And Acura has their own thing going. I think all three have differentiated themselves. BMW is hit and miss. Audi is by far the WORST out of all brands. And Mercedes is a trend setter for themselves

Buick has some nice front ends. Lacrosse looked good. Volvo is so meh. Caddy is not bad

Why do you say that? Because they don't change the basic body-shapes every time it's raining?

I just find the front ends really unappealing
