GM closing Ontario, Detroit, and Ohio factories

BTW, I agree wth you that this is a very important thread. Some people don't realize the extreme seriousness of what GM and Ford are doing.....and what a roomful of tigers they have by the tail. This is definitely not your ordinary management decision that can simply be fluffed off as daily business-as-usual. It is way, WAY above that....and has even gotten national governments involved.

Now some suppliers are getting in on the action.

I agree, Jill, but southernx is a brand-new poster, and may not be fully-aware of CL's policy on thread-topics and posting. The mods here are usually pretty good about giving new people a break.

Yes, it was either a strike (or a demonstration?) by some 350 workers at the Lear-supplier plant, which makes seats for GM products, but it was minor, and lasted less than one day.

......and not to mention the fact that it has had 600 replies, from people of all viewpoints, and almost 22,000 viewers. That, IMO, hardly indicates a lack of interest.

At the end of the day, these GM plant closing are because people are not buying sedans, but even worse, GM wants to build more Mexian vechicles than they do domestic. The union does not help with the matter. On the other hand, if you don’t build locally, you lose good paying auto jobs. These affected workers will never find a good enough replacement. It’s a lose over all.

Do you think this would sell in the U.S.? After the Holden Grand Prix and Impala SS experiments, I'm sure GM would be gun shy about importing something like this.

So Sting is in Toronto to play a show about a local shipyard closing which damages the economy. I am on the fence here, is Sting out to just promote his musical that I have never heard of, or is he trying to really spread awareness about the GM situation in Oshawa. Or is it a bit of both? I do not like Sting at all BTW. He was at the Raptors game last night
