Thanks for posting! Nothing I read here surprises me, but it'll definitely need a redo when the new 3 Series becomes available.
I haven't driven a G70, but have driven a 340i and a Stinger. I would probably agree with their first place choice here, but am less certain about 2nd and 3rd, though I don't really object to their outcome.

Wish there were performance numbers posted to really see how close this trio is.
Pricing is emphasized as a key criteria and no surprises on the outcome. In Canada though, it would likely be a different outcome, Stinger 50K, G70 58K, 340i $70K.

Agreed....that's absurd. I've reviewed one. Excellent sports-sedan (actually a hatchback)...but no luxury vehicle. Interior trim's too plain and suspension/tires too stiff.
I would say one of its closest competitors would be the 4-door Opel-rebadge Buick Regal GS Sportback (which I've also reviewed)....not sure why the magazine did not include one.

Good point. Had forgotten about the A5. In fact, the Stinger benefits from some Audi styling.....Kia, several years ago, hired Audi's Chief Stylist away from them.

Watched the Motorweek test of the G70 today. Surprised at how much body roll the G70 was showing through the cones. But it got really good marks from John Davis. Even in its less powerful 2.0 turbo form, it's a very nice handler. Praised for its smooth ride and nice steering feel. Just like BMW's E90/E92 generation was known for. The upcoming G20 is going to be a real killer though.
Interesting to see the MB CLS in this same episode and how much less body roll it exhibited as it too blasted through the slalom. Basically a fancy dressed up E class.

The G70 is a lot faster than what most people think... The RWD version is getting precisely identical lap time as the F80 M3 at the road course track in Korea... and a little bit faster than the M4. The performance wise it's really right there with the latest gen M3. All these reviews are for marketing purpose they don't know all about the car inside out. I guess they threw in the BMW 340i as comparison since they are closer price range to the G70. The RWD version with less option (no sunroof) is about 500 lbs lighter than the AWD Stinger GT.

Good for Genesis to win this comparo. But it always comes down to price. If the BMW was priced the same as the Genesis, would most people select it?
I really hate when publications put this in. This way they cover all their bases and demographics. Just say the Genesis is the better car, if that is what it is.
It also comes in at about $52,000 making it a bargain when compared to the BMW

i think some will... the g70 is a lot nicer inside besides its other credentials. The next gen 3 series though will fight back strong.
