Yep, Q70L. No, not in the same league as the LS but I was comparing to the GS at the time.

i do like that it can be had with a V8 but infinitis (and nissan for that matter) in general just aren't too high quality, i'd certainly never get rid of my LS or E55 for one, although that red sport 400 model does look nice
I think a good alternative to the Q70 5.6 would be the Genesis (G80) 5.0 if you need to have a V-8. Similar space and lower-priced.

G80 is better looking too on the outside but the interior design is not as nice as the Q70 in my opinion.

I would definitely take a G80 over the Q70, as long as it had the V8 or the 3.3T.

Same here - absolutely. G80 with either engine is 100% the superior vehicle, IMO. There are Nissans you can buy now with nicer interiors than Q50/Q70 nowadays.

Tech in the interior is WAAAAY better in the G80 though. From a different decade.

Yeah Q70 is ancient. I'd go with the G80 followed by GS350/450h

It's sad Infiniti gave up and the Q70 is as good of a sedan as we will get from them. I always liked Lexus better and agree it's overall a better brand but I have owned two Infinitis and enjoyed them.

These are some quick interior comparison shots between the Q70 and G80, I do like the G80 but its interior design is not one of its strengths, especially the center dash area but it is a nicer looking car then the Q70 exterior wise. I think the Q70 has a pretty nice interior, quality is decent but I have not spent enough time in the 2 to really go over the details. G90 interior is a different story, it has a much nicer interior then both or any Infiniti, if the G80 had the G90 interior or 95% of it I would probably have a G80.

I like the design of the Infinti Q70 interior more then the 4th Gen GS in many aspects and the 8 cylinder is very tempting, I just heard of a few too many issues with them regarding transmission and some other areas and I don't really care for the exterior styling too much to really consider the Q70 over the GS.

While I agree the G80 isn't the most interesting car to look at on the inside, I'd rather be there than the Q70. Feels like there's just too much going on there. I can already feel the glare from the wood right below the infotainment screen. Though I will say I like that color palette, and that it looks somewhat more upscale than the G80. I think the G80 will age a lot better though - as is typical of more restrained designs.

Just wondering if you guys have sat in a G80 before? I just sat in a G80 for the first time at the LA auto show. I had never previously been impressed by the interior of the G80 from all the photos & videos I've seen of it online and shared your views on it. In person, it looks so much more 3-dimensional and nowhere near as flat as it does in pics. I really liked it in person and came away way more impressed than I thought I'd be.

Very different look/feel/vibe in person.

Dunno if you were referring to me, but I have driven one, even, and wrote a review of it. I do like the interior a lot in practice.

I remember sitting in a M56 when it first came out (This is what the Q70 used to be called), and thought the design was nice but the plastics seemed really cheap for a luxury vehicle. The leather they used seemed pretty poor too. It does photograph well, especially in those photoshopped glamour shots, but in person, it doesn't translate.

I agree. That's been Infiniti's long term issue. Cost control and what not with the parent company and its troubles even back in the day. Toyota managed to stay profitable and was able to pour a lot more money into quality materials. The other issue is that Cadillac's departed guy Johan de Nysschen was at Infiniti after he finished his Audi tour. He was the one who instituted the naming changes with an alphabet soup of confusion. He did the same at Cadillac and we know how that's turning out.

You can't keep confusing your customers because the marketing department says you have to "rebrand" your image over and over. Genesis is doing a better job with sticking to the G70/80/90 nomeclature and with interior materials. The GS is going to age out at Toyota but it is still a very compelling choice. Much, much better materials and long term reliability. Just a better choice all around.
