hard to fathom that the top trim only comes with stupid 22" rims.

That's quite commonlace in the industry. Not always, but quite often, the higher-line (or the more sport-oriented) the trim level, the larger the wheels tend to be, and the lower the tire-profile. Not a system I like either, but, for the most part, something we're stuck with.

thanks, of course i know this, but 22's are extreme and very low profile on this midsize ute.

Totally agree, and I even think they look a little goofy

I'd rather swap the steering wheel than the 22' wheels. If Genesis is smart, they'll make a Sport version of this like they are doing now with the G80.

I have seen the new GV at the Auto Show and on the road in Toronto. But Watching some of the reviews and reactions. I have the feeling this Genesis is going to be a massive dud. No dealers either.

20,000 preorders and counting. The only way this will be a "dud" is if Genesis runs into inadequate supply issues like Telluride and Palisade that artificially make it look like it's selling less than the competition.

SW. I will send you a $50 e card in 2022 if sales are on the decline in their second MY on the market...if not you send me. I remember the KIA Stinger was so overhyped and loved...sales are now on the serious decline. Take my bet?

What's so magical about a Sport version? I agree that it doesn't necessarily have to handle like a school-bus, but most people don't buy or lease something like a GV80 to go whipping around corners. We seem to be allowing this attitude that everything has to be sport-oriented to almost completely pervade the industry.

Because it'll sell. Like them or not, SUV's have become the "do-everything" vehicle of choice to the general public. They want their wagon on stilts to seat their whole family and be a track car when they feel like it. And since Genesis is already making a new G80 Sport, there's no reason not to spread development costs and share the same components with the GV80, especially when the GV80 will outsell the G80 by multiples.

It would also be a direct competitor to the likes of the GLE 53 AMG.

Pardon me, Jill, for butting into your private bet with Steve here, but I think you meant to say that you will send him an E-card if GV80 sales are NOT on the decline in the second year. Better clarify that.

As for the Stinger, probably apples and oranges. The market for family-SUVs, today, is quite different from the market for sports-sedans.
