Apparently the original article has been corrected to show the 7.3 liter pushrod OHV engine instead of a 7 liter DOHC.
Like I said, it would be insane for Ford to spend the time and money developing two very large but similarly-sized gas engines. At least we found out pretty quickly which report was wrong.
Why wouldnt they just ecoboost a smaller V8? It should offer less lag and somewhat smooth out engine response and powerband. I can't imagine these monsters can rev particularly quick or have even decent city FE.

If they do a V-8 for the GT it would almost certainly be a version of the upcoming Shelby GT500 engine which is over 700 hp from 5.2 liters.

funny thing is Ford GT (11/18) that weighs the same as my viper (12/19) but its 3.5 liters and not 8.4 makes less mpg. 2015+ Vipers are 12/21
Just as long as it's not this iron-block 7.3L. That would be REALLY bad in an otherwise lightweight mid-engined supercar.

I was somewhat joking, but honestly I mentioned put this V8 in the GT because 'homage'. The GT40 Mk II and Mk IV both used a 7.0L V8

I've often wondered why we haven't seen an EcoBoost V8. Why not a 4.0L TTV8, sounds stellar to me. And if you don't want to put it in Ford, then spice things up and give it to some top end Lincolns.
