Last year Toyota sold 48.5k ES350's and 33.6k Avalons. 82,000 cars not bad considering the current popularity of SUV's.

I don't expect the Avalon to go soon because the ES is becoming more important to Lexus international sales. In Europe the ES300h will compete not as a sports sedan, but against stalwarts like the E class or 5 series diesels. It is larger inside and with more trunk space than either making it a great alternative for airport taxis and limos. The hybrid fuel economy and clean exhaust in city driving should also be a plus. ES is the most important sedan in the Lexus line-up and Avalon shares most of the parts.
