Times are changing. A lot of the examples you provided meet the definition of flagship:
For a business, the most important thing is the product that produces the highest value add. Assuming that the most sold product also produces the highest profit margin, then yes, the 3-series that accounts for 20% of BMW's sales makes the 7-series that accounts for 3% of worldwide sales irrelevant.

Fair enough. I can see how most people on a Lexus forum would disagree.
Since others wanted to make a counterpoint I am simply trying to provide a different perspective. I really do not think most people have even heard of the LS whereas everyone knows the RX. Sorry Lexus folks.
