The sad part is they could of just called these cars Vsport as that was already established.
Three generations of V's and 15 years down the drain

Totally agree.

Default Hotter Cadillac CT4-V prototype spied testing at GM's Proving Grounds

Cadillac already teased us once with the hotter CT4-V and CT5-V at the Belle Isle Grand Prix, but these photos are still the best look yet at what's next for the Cadillac V-Series. The car we're looking at in heavy camouflage here is a high-performance CT4, but we don't really have a name to call it at this point. Cadillac hasn't said, so it could be anything. We'll just refer to it as the faster V, as it's certainly looking a bit more racy than the warmed-over CT4-V already revealed.

Still angers me that they would call the 320 hp CT4 and 355 hp CT5 'V's', when they have a true V coming back. Way to discredit and dilute what V is supposed to mean. Why don't you just spit in current V owners faces too GM geez

A more accurate term for those two models might be along the M-Sport lines what BMW uses (or used at one time).........V-Sport.

They already had the mid level performance Vsport sub-brand (3.6L TTV6) starting with the XTS and then the third generation CTS. That's what's so infuriating.

While I'm rooting for more powerful V's, they'll probably be ho-hum. The ATS-V is a strong candidate against the M3, and the CTS-V with 640 glorious ponies vs the M5's 560-600 made a huge statement. But even those couldn't crack M.

Default Cadillac CT5-V comes in under $50,000

Plus, Cadillac says the V makes more power than it initially said

Cadillac CT5-V pricing is out, giving us a fuller picture of the CT5 lineup from a pricing perspective. We still haven’t driven Cadillac’s new sedan, but we now know that a CT5-V with rear-wheel drive will set you back $48,690, including the $995 destination charge. If you want all-wheel drive, that’ll be $51,290, a $2,600 upcharge.

There’s a small tidbit of powertrain news available today, as well. When Cadillac first announced the CT5-V, it said the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 would make 355 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Since then, Cadillac has upped the final figures to 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. The difference is only 5 horsepower and 5 pound-feet of torque, but still worth noting.

We also got pricing information on the CT5 with the lower-spec 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. This engine is only available on the Premium Luxury trim and it starts at $45,190 with rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive version costs $48,280.

Cadillac opened up the CT5’s configurator with all the different variants on it today, too. We built a CT5-V with all the option boxes checked and saw the price balloon to more than $67,000. This sedan can get expensive if you let it. Compared to the BMW M340i or Audi S4, the Cadillac's base price is still cheaper.

If you want to keep it in the Cadillac family, the smaller CT4-V starts at $45,490, coming in $3,200 less than the CT5-V. Cadillac says the CT5 will begin shipping to dealers in the first quarter and the CT4 will arrive in the second quarter.

Weak. The Model 3 Performance produces 500hp with over 500ft/lbs of torque for $55k. They're not gonna sell with those horsepower ratings on a full V model.

On paper, that doesn't sound like much, but how the torque-curve is set up can also make a difference. If the available torque (and max torque) comes on earlier in the RPM-band, even small differences in the absolute numbers can be felt in the throttle response.

It will make 0 difference when these V's line-up against an AMG or M. Cadillac V was 15 years in making a competitive performance sub-brand and they gave up and decided to downgrade it. smh

^^^ Yes, I agree with that part of it. I was referring to the 5 HP/torque difference in the two engines you quoted. A more responsive torque curve at lower RPMs can, and sometimes does, enhance what would be otherwise be very small differences.
