250 of each? Not only are these niche-vehicles at best, but were (or probably will be) sold out the day after this notice is released. It's also somewhat surprising that GM is asking only $1000 deposit for each of them......that is what John Q. Public would put down at the dealership for any run-of-the-mill econobox.

Reservations are for the first 250 of each. There will be more of each made I'm sure. The low number basically makes it a given that they'll sell out, if not to specific people, to dealers that self order, and thus yet another press release to make about how quickly this allotment sold out.
Do you agree, though, that the $1000 deposit looks a little strange for something like this? That is what GM dealerships would ask on a Chevy Spark, or Cruze, if they were still in production.

Rivian only charges a $1,000 deposit. The Bronco is a $100 deposit. This is nothing to do with the dealers at this point.

In a time when many Americans can't cover a surprise/random $500 expense, I'd say putting $1,000 towards a car that will don't be delivered for a while, let alone come up with the rest of the price, which is guaranteed to be over $50,000, is just fine. There's nothing strange about it. 250 is small enough of a number to guarantee some PR quotable time frame of how quick the allocation sold out. And again, the precedent from nearly every other 'pre-order' launch program of late seems to point to $1,000 being a nice round number that doesn't put people out.

Obviously, but just saying that an immediate $1,000 outlay and commitment is not something small.

250 units - is this April Fool’s Day 😂
At least offer the new Blackwing V8 in the Blackwing model.
Cadillac needs to go back to the drawing board and actually make cars ppl aspire to owning. Ruining the V moniker was one of the worst decisions.

Again, 250 is the initial allotment. There will be more. The Blackwing V8 ship has sailed. They've committed to manuals with the new V-Blackwings, that's a pretty big stake for enthusiasts. I would be very tempted to look at the new Blackwings.

Nobody cares or knows what Blackwing model even is but they have the ***** to demand $1,000 deposit to order one. There are a lot of BMW M owners turned off by new M3 styling and if Cadillac would know how to treat clients and have normal dealers then they could attract some of those buyers especially since these cars still have a manual. Making it sound like you’re lucky to get one is not a good start.....

This is just in poor taste and will turn off the very ppl Cadillac is trying to attract.

Cadillac is targeting these cars to who? Probably current owners of European brands like BMW.
Nobody cares about a launch edition of a vehicle that has no history or relevance - it’s worthless.
Their focus should be on attracting real buyers not on gimmicky marketing with a dumb plaque, enthusiast buyers see right through that. Also try dealing with Cadillac dealers to buy performance car - not great experience.
