If you like looking at numbers, charts, and graphs, you’ll like this.
A detailed look at trends by vehicle types, brands, etc. in Europe.
While Europe has tended to go for small diesel cars in the past couple of decades, they’re now transitioned a huge percentage to SUVs and away from diesels across the board. Toyota owns half the hybrid market there.

Opel is mentioned on page 8. Seems their best market is Netherlands.

The 500 isn't really basic transportation and is now in it's 12th year so needs a new model badly. Most are relatively well equipped and are very popular as first cars, particularly among young women and there are loads on the roads. My wife fell in love with one about a decade ago and we ended up having 3 in succession, two of which were cabrios. To be fair they are great little cars and fun to drive.

Except for the sport-oriented Abarth versions, they are generally base transportation by American standards (and in much of the West), though that may not be the case in the Third World.

Hope you didn't have very many problems with them.....Fiats are not known for reliability.
