Stunning car. Genesis nailed it! I really like the accentuation of width on the front end of the car.

When did the first G80 come out? Seems like quick re-designs for the G90 and the G80. Maybe my only beef - already the prior models are going to be out-of-date compared to these styling cues.

G80 initially debuted as the 2015 Hyundai Genesis (2nd generation of the U.S. Genesis sedan). The G80 and Genesis designation changed for the 2017 model year I believe. So altogether a 6 year cycle which is fairly standard these days.

People will never be happy when it comes to redesigns. If they make it more evolutionary, people are upset, if they change it drastically, people are upset.

I see this as one of the first vehicles (along with GV80) that was designed from the get go as a "Genesis" for whatever that's worth. Not grafting styling elements onto the prior body etc. And the chance to fully separate out some of the design and identity from the parent Hyundai brand. So I'm sure they don't care that the older models will be 'out of date'.

Like Volvo, where the 1st XC90 lasted over a decade (2003 to 2015?), sure maybe it kept those old owners feeling fresher, but it didn't really give customers a strong impetus to get newer vehicles either. And just now, they did possibly the most slightest of "midcycle refresh" to the Volvo lineup. 2016 vs 2020 XC90, I doubt any people not super enthusiasts will spot the "new concave grille" etc. In an era where customers mostly demand seeing some sort of substantive and tangible improvement, the old slap some new grilles and bumpers and lights doesn't seem to be as effective.

Love the grill and that interior, really dislike the back though reminds me of a blatant MB rip-off.

This makes a lot of sense. For decades, I have usually disliked everything people like and vice-versa. No exception here.
I can't see how hatchback/fastback styling on a full-sized sedan is sexy. But.... I am happy my fellow enthusiasts are happy. Enjoy =)

^^^^ I'm with Fizz. Sedans are sedans, and coupes are coupes. Don't try and mix them.

You folks sure? That has to be one of the ugliest steering wheels I've ever seen. The idea is to MINIMIZE the wheel. Not visually stretch it out.

Well, the central pad has to be large enough to accept the airbag hardware. Many steering-wheels today have the third-spoke, which is considered sport-oriented....Genesis is just bucking the trend a little here. Besides, enjoy steering wheels while you still got them LOL.....sooner or later, the drive-by-wire designers are probably going to switch to those joysticks.

Given how the rest of it looks, and what I imagine is going to be really good pricing, I can forgive the stupid steering wheel design. The big question is how does it drive?

Hopefully they were able to keep the weight in check this time. Could never understand why the outgoing model is so heavy.

Yeah, the current gen G80 is a heavy boat. Less than stellar fuel efficiency too. I hope they improved in these areas.

Yeah I don't love the steering wheel. Its better looking than the steering wheel in the GV80. I don't however discount the rest of the car with IMHO is gorgeous simply because of the steering wheel.

I felt the same way about the wheel bit posted above. Don't love it, but would it keep me from getting an S Class? Absolutely not.
